Tucson Gem Show Season Is Here | Local
TUCSON (KVOA) – It’s an event that thousands look forward to and people travel to Tucson from across the country.
From sparkle and bling to excitement and new discoveries, a busy season of gem fairs is upon us.
Southern Arizona will host over 40 shows and events over the next few weeks.
The Gem Shows bring in an estimated $131 million each year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that number is unlikely to be reached, but Tucson expects about 65,000 visitors.
Visit Tucson says it’s great news for the area and has redesigned many group stores that have been lost.
“This is a clear sign that hopefully things are on their way back to normal and you know that all show owners and promoters have been operating under strict COVID guidelines, collaborating and under the direction of the Pima County and city health department Tucson.”
The new year also brings a new marketing campaign on the mobile website. It will tell visitors where to eat, where to park, what to see and how to do it all safely.
Many shows start on Thursday and Friday, most starting at 9am to 10am
