Tucson Kicks Off Spring Mobile Recreation Program

TUCSON, AZ — Tucson Parks and Recreation plans to start off the spring season for its mobile recreation program, “Ready, Set, Rec!” with a Saturday event.

The event is set for 9 am-noon on Saturday at Joaquin Murrieta Park, 1400 N. Silverbell Road, according to a news release from the city. The kickoff event will include activities, games and raffles.

Through the program, one of the city’s six mobile recreation vans will visit at least three different parks in each city ward each week.

“This program ensures that the entire community is served and has an opportunity to participate in recreation activities near where they live,” the city said.

Each van is set to deliver play equipment, along with other options like sports equipment, yard games, race cars, disc golf, fitness actives and items friendly to children with sensory issues.

The program is funded through the federal CARES Act, also called the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
