TUCSON (KVOA) – Police identified the victim in the fatal pedestrian collision on Sunday’s south side of Tucson.
Michael Bernard Ortiz, 58, died after being hit by a vehicle near Ajo Way and Interstate 19.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Mr. Ortiz was trying to cross Ajo Way when he was hit by a Subaru BRZ in 2013.
The Subaru driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Police say the driver was not impaired at the time of the collision.
According to TPD, Ortiz was not on a zebra crossing at the time of the collision. He was wearing non-reflective dark clothing.
No quotes or charges were issued at this point.
The investigation is still ongoing.
