Ryan Green and Cameron Hood – Tucson’s folk-rock duo Ryanhood – have decided to take a sabbatical off the tour for much of last year to record a sequel to their 2017 studio album.
Funny how the timing worked.
Who would have thought that making this decision in 2019 would force the entire entertainment world to take a break in 2020?
“It turned out that the timing was pretty good to get off the road,” said Green.
This weekend, Ryanhood will host three Arizona Arts Live concerts to celebrate the release of Under the Leaves on Friday April 16th. The evening performances on Friday and Saturday April 17th are sold out, but some tickets are available for a matinee concert on Saturday.
The album is a musically fascinating bluegrass / folk-rock collection of songs that kidnaps the listener “somewhere under the leaves / somewhere under my breath” into a changing world in which “we are headed for a catastrophe / the feeling in the end have that we give in. ”
“Under the Leaves,” largely written by the couple prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, tackles some heartbreaking topics, from the gritty love song “Seeing in the Dark” – “Have you ever felt like you made one.” ? ” Mistake / Maybe you stayed / Instead of leaving? “- and the unfortunate sobering” I had no chance “-” Maybe if I hadn’t let you / let you go / you would still be here. “
