There have been few live classical music concerts since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
But on Saturday, April 17th, a trio of Tucson musicians will band together for a special fundraising concert at the Catalyst Arts & Makers Space in the Tucson Mall. Proceeds from the socially distant event will benefit the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance, which operates Catalyst and hosts arts events across the region.
Violinist Toru Tagawa, founder and music director of the Tucson Repertory Orchestra and longtime orchestral director of Canyon del Oro High School, joins solo cellist Helena Pedersen of Sierra Vista Symphony and South Korean pianist Kyungsun Choi, who received her PhD from the University of Arizona for one Work program by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and Beach.
The trio will play Mozart’s Rondo from the serenade in D major “Haffner”, Bach’s Sonata for viola da gamba No. 2 in D major, Beach’s Romance for violin and piano and Beethoven’s piano trio in G major.
