Unofficial election results show City of Tucson voters approved Proposition 411, an extension of the existing half-cent sales tax for neighborhood street and safety improvements. The results from the election yesterday, May 17, show 52,884 voters chose to approve the proposition, while 19,149 voted against it.
Funds generated from the sales tax extension will be invested to improve every local neighborhood street in Tucson over the next 10 years. The revenue also will fund street safety projects that benefit all users and modes, such as bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements, sidewalks, lighting, traffic signal technology, and traffic-calming infrastructure.
