Tucson’s Bowman signs extension with Hendrick Motorsports

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Alex Bowman received a two-year contract from Hendrick Motorsports on Friday celebrating NASCAR’s return to Nashville and supporting Ally’s support of the region’s first Cup Series race in 37 years.

Bowman was renewed through the 2021 season to match Ally’s commitment to the # 48 Chevrolet. The digital financial services company joined NASCAR in 2019 as a sponsor of seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, and Ally wanted Bowman to get into the car this season after Johnson’s move to IndyCar.

Bowman is in his sixth full season in the Cup race and his fourth with Hendrick. He has two career wins so far this season and will start Sunday’s race at the Nashville Superspeedway 11th overall.

The Superspeedway has been idle since it held its 21st and final race in the Xfinity Series in 2011. Dover Motorsports reopened the track this year, relocating one of its Cup races to Nashville to bring NASCAR’s top series onto the concrete oval for the first time.

The Cup series has not raced in the Nashville area since 1984 when Geoff Bodine won the final race of the premiere series at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

To aid NASCAR’s return to Nashville, Ally signed a multi-year contract for eligibility rights for Sunday’s race at the speedway. NASCAR has given the Nashville Superspeedway a four-year contract for the cup.

“Our goal has always been to add floor space,” said Andrea Brimmer, Ally’s chief marketing and public relations officer, when the Ally 400 sponsorship was announced. “It had to be the right race, in the right place, with the right partners, and (Nashville) was the combination of all of that. It was three times what we were looking for. “

As part of his claims sponsorship, Ally said he would donate $ 25,000 to the Box 55 Association in Nashville, which supports local first responders, and $ 25,000 to the Urban League of Middle Tennessee, a civil rights and urban advocacy group.
