USBP: Two for people smuggling, drugs and weapons near Yuma. arrested

BLYTHE, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – Border guards seized drugs and weapons and stopped a people smuggling attempt at the immigration checkpoint on Highway 78.
According to US Border Patrol, the incident occurred after 7 p.m. last Friday when a BMW stopped at the checkpoint northwest of Yuma near Palo Verde. When agents inspected the vehicle, they found two women in the back seat who were illegally in the United States
The driver, a 29-year-old from Anaheim, California, was sent to secondary school for further inspection of the vehicle. A dog became aware of the car and agents found 0.72 grams of heroin, four grams of methamphetamine, three grams of marijuana, ten drug paraphernalia, counterfeit and stolen credit cards, and a fraudulent document printer.
They also found a weapon that was not unidentifiable due to the brand and model number being cut off.
They say the driver and passenger had been convicted of burglary, DUI, and drug possession on multiple occasions.
Agents arrested the driver and the 52-year-old passenger from Riverside for his involvement in people smuggling.
