Utah’s Conley replaces Phoenix’s Booker in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game and in the MTN DEW 3-point competition
NEW YORK – Mike Conley, the Guardian of Utah Jazz, has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured Phoenix Suns Guardian Devin Booker on Team Durant in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, which will take place in the state on Sunday, March 7th Farm Arena in Atlanta.
In addition, Conley will replace Booker in the MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest 2021, which will take place on March 7th ahead of the NBA All-Star Game.
This is the first ever NBA All-Star selection for Conley, who is in his 14th season. He averages 16.1 points and 5.7 assists in 29 games this season and shoots a career high of 42.2 percent from the three-point range. Conley, 33, helped jazz release an NBA 27-9 best record. He joins two NBA teammates, Team LeBron Center Rudy Gobert and Team Durant Guard Donovan Mitchell, in the NBA All-Star Game.
Booker is unable to compete in the NBA All-Star Game or in the MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest due to a sprained left knee. He was appointed by the commissioner to replace Los Angeles Lakers striker Anthony Davis in the NBA All-Star Game. Booker averages 24.9 points and 4.4 templates in 31 games this season.
Under NBA rules, the Commissioner will elect a replacement from the same conference as the player who will be replaced if a player selected for the All-Star Game is unable to attend. Booker and Conley both play for Western Conference teams.
The NBA All-Star Game and MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest are part of the NBA All-Star 2021, which will take place in one evening. TNT’s NBA All-Star coverage on March 7th will begin at 5:00 p.m. CET with the TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by CarMax, followed by the Taco Bell® Skills Challenge and the MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest from 6:30 p.m. CET. Coverage of the NBA All-Star Game begins at 8:00 p.m. (CET). AT&T Slam Dunk takes place at halftime.
