Vehicle stop leads to arrest of people smuggling in Yuma
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Border guards arrested two men after they were accused of smuggling two migrants into their vehicle.
According to the US Border Patrol (USBP), the incident happened last Friday when agents saw migrants get into a white Dodge Charger in Calexico.
They say the vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 8 and was found by an air ban agent from the Yuma Air Branch as it entered the Yuma Sector area.
The Yuma Police Department assisted agents and stopped vehicles on A Avenue and 1st Street and confirmed the smuggling incident. USBP says it arrested a 20- and 18-year-old from California who previously arrested smuggling.
