Video: Groms make it big with Propain’s new Yuma in “It’s Playtime”

Words from Propain

As one of the first mountain bike manufacturers to focus so intensely on the kids’ segment, we are very proud to be able to present the third generation of the Yuma. Our goal was and is to build a children’s mountain bike that is in no way inferior to the big ones.

“The perfect playmate for your next adventure, whether on the pump track, in the bike park or in the forest behind the house. With the Yuma you surprise mom and make dad proud. Grab your Yuma and have a great time that you will never forget. ”- This is the best way to describe the Yuma.

The Yuma is a children’s full-size bike that is in no way inferior to its big role models. Originally developed for the kids of the PROPAIN founders, it is now a full-fledged mountain bike for motivated gravity youngsters and a bike that is popular around the world.

Developed for the needs of young shredders and senderellas. The light aluminum frame, the optimized suspension system and the balanced geometry give the rookies stability and safety on every journey.

Delivered with 24 ″ wheels, the Yuma can be easily converted to 26 ″ wheels with a flip chip and grow with it. This way the kids can have fun for a long time and the parents’ investment lasts. But be careful: the moment will come when you will notice that your child is faster than you!

Overall concept and geometry

The light aluminum frame and the balanced geometry give the young shredder confidence and stability. The flat head angle and low bottom bracket ensure a safe and fun ride. Thanks to the reduced standover height, the kids get their feet on the ground when necessary and always have full control of their bike. The optimal length of the top tube in combination with a steep seat angle allow the youngsters an upright pedal position and optimal weight distribution over the handlebars when going downhill . The Yuma is a small enduro bike and is designed for everything between bike parks and trips with the family.

Bike concept – grow with it

Everyone grows and advances, and so does the Yuma.
Our “Rookie Launcher” comes with 24 “wheels. By simply changing the flip-chip, the bike can be easily converted to 26” wheels. The bike grows with you and can be used for a long time.

Our recommendation:

24 “: Height from 1.25 m to 1.50 m
26 “: Height from 1.40 m to 1.55 m
The maximum rider weight is 80 kg.

The grown-up kit on 26 “wheels can be purchased separately and is not included in the scope of delivery.

Suspension system / kinematics

The Yuma is hung by a single link design. A simple system ideally designed for children’s bikes. It saves weight and still offers a decent progression and sensitivity for the light pilot. It is also easy to care for and easy to use.

New design concept and new colors

As with our adult models, we are also breaking new ground in terms of design. The modern design of the Yuma is noble, tidy and dynamic, it can easily keep up with the “big ones”. The flat top tube gives the Yuma a sleek and simple look. The color of the head tube sticker, frame sticker and handles are freely configurable. The new frame colors of the Yuma are “Badmint (Matte)” and “Venomblack (Matte)”.

Framework functions

Internal cable routing
Internal cable routing has become standard on modern bicycles. It’s the cleanest, safest, and most beautiful way of laying cables. Since our kids’ fully is in no way inferior to our adult bikes, we have also upgraded the new Yuma and so the cables now run inside the frame, ensure a clean look and are safe from outside slopes.

PROPAIN dirt shields and Acros bearings
Full throttle through puddles and dirt. The robust Acros frame bearings are also protected in our children’s bikes by the PROPAIN Dirt Shields. An additional seal protects the bearings below from dust, water and dirt.

Frame protection
With youngsters in particular, it sometimes happens that the wheel hits the ground or is treated roughly. That is why we paid great attention to protecting the frame. A newly developed down tube and chainstay protector that can be easily replaced is used.
The Yuma also has an ISCG mount for mounting a bashguard or a chain guide.

Always stay hydrated!
The new Yuma frame now also offers space for a bottle holder for bottles up to 0.5 liters.
Tool bag
As a little treat, the Yuma comes with a tool bag in the frame triangle. There is space for an energy bar, a small multitool or even a replacement tube.

Specifications and prices

We offer our Yuma in one specification. The head tube badge, the frame sticker and the handle color are configurable. There is also the option for a tubeless kit from “milking“- including sealing milk, filling system and valves that are already pre-assembled.

The saddle, seat post, crank, handlebar and stem are still from “1st trip“, The specialist for children’s bicycle parts.
We don’t compromise on the drive or the braking system either, and so a SRAM GX 1×11 and a SRAM Guide T Brake specified. The shock of Rockshox and the fork of Manitou complete the suspension.

Newbies delivers the very high quality and light XA25 wheels. These wheels not only look good, they also impress with their good stiffness and stability at a record weight. Traction for the little fully comes from VEE Flow SNAP 2.4.

The new Yuma can be ordered at the price of € 2,199.00 of June 22, 2021 in our webshop. Prices outside the EU may vary. North America prices are tba.

development

During development, our frames do extensive laps on our in-house test bench. In load tests with a total of over 500,000 cycles per frame, they are tested for stiffness, overload and fatigue. We test all frames far beyond the prescribed standards, which is why our Yuma is listed in category 5.
