Volunteers knock on door in Phoenix to register a neighborhood for COVID-19 vaccines
Peri Raygors, who lives in downtown Phoenix, says a representative from the Arizona Department of Health (AZDHS) knocked on her door.
PHOENIX – – ON Phoenix Woman was alerted by someone who happened to come to her door and offered to get it Covid-19 vaccination.
However, it’s an effort by various agencies working to get more people vaccinated in Arizona as not everyone can get to a vaccination site or register for a dose online.
Volunteers have gone door-to-door in Phoenix to ensure seniors are registered for a vaccine.
FOX 10 has heard countless stories from people struggling to get an appointment. We spoke to a woman who had no idea that the effort was door-to-door. She called the police and turned to FOX 10.
Peri Raygors, who lives in downtown Phoenix, says a representative from the Arizona Department of Health (AZDHS) knocked on her door.
“I was concerned after he left because I hadn’t heard from people who were passing by,” said Raygors, thinking it was a scam.
According to AZDHS, this was intensive public relations work to get residents of zip code 85009 vaccinated. In about a week, volunteers registered 400 residents in the area to receive their dose.
While Raygors has already received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, she says these efforts will help many Arizonans.
“I think it’s great. I think the city should have done something like this for this neighborhood some time ago,” she said.
