Wales’ 28-man squad Robert Page has just named his training camp in Portugal ahead of Euro 2020
Welsh boss Robert Page this week named a 28-man squad for his Euro 2020 camp in Portugal.
Fifteen players met for a training camp at Cardiff’s Vale Resort last week. These members are now joined by another 13 to prepare for this year’s summer tournament.
With the domestic season over for most players, the trip is seen as a great opportunity to tweak things ahead of the games against Turkey, Switzerland and Italy.
Daniel James is unavailable due to Manchester United’s involvement in the Europa League final, while Swansea City’s Connor Roberts and Ben Cabango will also be out as they prepare for the championship play-off final against Brentford on Saturday.
Newport County’s Josh Sheehan and Tom King are also unavailable when the Exiles reached the League Two play-off finals.
Fortunately, Joe Allen of Stoke City and Ben Davies of Tottenham were picked up after recovering from their respective blows. Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey were also in the group.
There’s still no place for Cardiff City’s Will Vaulks, who despite being in good form for the Bluebirds continues to be overlooked this season.
Page’s men face warm-ups against France (June 2nd, Paris) and Albania (June 5th, Cardiff) before he names his final tour group for the tournament.
The camp in the Algarve takes place from today to Saturday.
Page will announce its 26-person roster on Sunday, May 30th.
