Between holidays, long weekends, and school vacations, hitting the slopes at the best time can be a minefield. You want to hit the Arizona slopes at the least busy times to skip the lines and purchase the cheapest tickets.

Stay away from big holidays! The days between Christmas and New Year, around Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day, are the “high season”. Lift tickets, equipment rentals, and accommodation will be the most expensive. And the lines are getting long, the slopes are full and you won’t get the best experience possible.

  • Christmas to New Year’s Eve: December 26th, 2021 – January 2nd, 2022
  • MLK Day: January 15-17, 2022
  • President’s Day: February 19-27, 2022

The least busy times to ski and the best times to ski are very different. The least busy days are most likely to have the most unfavorable conditions. At the beginning of the ski season and in the last few days, the slopes are least frequented. But just because ski areas can make snow doesn’t mean that all slopes are open in perfect condition. The same goes for the late season.

The best, high quality, non-busy days to ski are the days of the week from early January to early March. When you can leave the office, the weekdays are less crowded, more fun, and usually cheaper.
