The University of Arizona will host personal graduation ceremonies May 11-18, depending on the college. Although these are much smaller matters than some graduates would like, a lot of people from out of town will come to celebrate.
And what could be better, graduates, to bring back memories of that special day than sharing with family and friends the Tucson that you came to know and love during your time here.
We let some graduates know of their plans after the ceremony and they came up with some pretty cool ideas, from immersing yourself in the restaurants, shops, and bars of North Fourth Avenue to exploring one of Tucson’s most fascinating museums, the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures.
Take a ride on the tram and get to the end of the line into the Mercado District where you will find all kinds of shops and restaurants that scream “Tucson only”.
Visit begincement.arizona.edu/ceremonies to find out when your graduate is marching. Check out these ideas for the after party.
The rooftop bar / restaurant, Moonstone at the Graduate Tucson Hotel, has spectacular city views.

Party zone at the main gate square
After the state got rid of most of the COVID-19 logs including capacity restrictions in bars and restaurants, Main Gate Square on East University Boulevard is rocking. Shops, restaurants, and bars are open as usual, which means you can toast in popular hangouts like Gentle Ben’s Brewing Co., 865 E. University, for their artisanal beers and inventive burgers like the jalapeño bacon burger Brioche rolls and smoky pulled pork sandwiches, as well as southwestern delicacies from nachos to quesadillas, are known to run into crowds.
