An elderly woman was transported to a local hospital Saturday following a suspected drowning in a pool at a home in the area of Cholla and 40th streets.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the woman was found by a family member in the pool and was pulled out of the water prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
The fire department said the woman is in her 80s and was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition.
The incident was turned over to Phoenix police for an investigation, Phoenix fire said.
