Yuma Agents Rescue Group to find a deceased person

YUMA, Aris. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents, responding to an emergency call early Sunday morning, rescued three migrants in distress and found one deceased.

Around 3 a.m., a woman called 911 and said she was part of a group of four migrants who got lost in the desert with no food or water. Agents responded based on the grid coordinates provided in an area four miles south of County 14th Street and Highway 195 and encountered the caller, an 18-year-old Mexican citizen. The woman said she left the three other members of her group behind.

Agents searched the area and discovered a second migrant, a 50-year-old Mexican citizen. He was dehydrated and needed water, but otherwise in good health.

As they continued their search in the area, the agents came across a third deceased in the group. The late man was later identified as a 45-year-old Mexican national.

The fourth and final member of the group, a 34-year-old Mexican national, was located northwest of the others. The person identified as the foot guide was severely dehydrated and in need of advanced medical care. Agents gave him intravenous fluids and took him to the rural metro for transportation to the Yuma Regional Medical Center.

The foot guide, fortunate to have survived this incident, is now charged with alien smuggling that resulted in death.
