Yuma Catholic High School is switching to online learning after multiple cases of COVID-19
The school principal confirms that the spread began with the volleyball team
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma Catholic High School will suspend all indoor activities, including classroom teaching, after a number of students test positive for COVID-19.
Rhett Stallworth confirms the closure. Stallworth says the school made the decision “out of great caution”.
The director tells News 11’s Cody Lee that the first cases were from the girls’ volleyball team. Stallworth says members of the team were initially quarantined. He says contact tracing has been carried out.
All indoor activities are canceled until October 18th. Outdoor activities, including sports, will continue as normal.
Yuma Catholic is on fall vacation October 11-15. The school plans to resume normal operations afterwards.
