Yuma County Health District: Wear red to raise heart awareness

The campaign is called “Go Red or Wear Red”.

YUMA COUNTY, Arizona (KYMA) – February, the month of love and friendship, is also the month the American Heart Association promotes heart attack and stroke prevention in women through a campaign called Go Red or Wear Red.

To raise awareness, the Yuma County Health District is working to prevent cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death among women in the United States.

“We offer free prevention programs that are bilingual in English and Spanish due to the pandemic we are providing with virtual information,” said Cinthia Espinoza, coordinator for the diabetes program and heart disease at YCPHD.

“We have different programs: the diabetes prevention program, the chronic disease program and the smoking cessation program.”

We are all encouraged to wear red this Friday!
