Yuma County sees an increase in COVID cases over the weekend
Delta Variant is not only stronger, but also more contagious and affects younger age groups more than ever
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Concerns about the statewide and statewide spike in COVID cases recently led Yuma County to consider another mask mandate despite Governor Ducey banning mask mandates.
The Yuma County Public Health Service district reports over 100 COVID cases this weekend alone. When positive cases increase, YCPHSD empathizes with the community.
“I know we are all sick of COVID and the impact it has had on our daily lives. What we have had to give up is the sacrifices people have made in relation to human connection on the disease aspect, but there is a behavioral medicine aspect and the isolation where we have not been able to attend many of the larger events “, says Diana Gomez, district director of public health for Yuma County.
Gomez says with less than half of our population vaccinated, we will continue to see variants of COVID infecting people.
