Yuma receives CPR kits for infants thanks to the
Arizona Lottery and the American Heart Association will donate nearly 1,000 kits
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Whether you’re scraping a scratcher or taking your chances at the Mega Millions, your game is a win for your community. Since 1981, the Arizona Lottery has donated more than $ 4.6 billion to the state’s education system, health care, and economic development, to name a few.
According to John Galliland with the Arizona Lottery, there was no CPR training across the state due to the global pandemic. And according to the AHA, 70% of Americans don’t know how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR for short.
So the Arizona Lottery teamed up with the American Heart Association and came up with a plan to educate parents of infants with health problems.
Close to 1,000 infant CPR units have been donated to communities across the state. In Yuma, the Yuma fire department is to receive 200 kits.
Kits include a doll-sized training manikin, DVDs, and workbooks in English and Spanish.
