Yuma School District One Receives US $ 12.5,000 for Teaching Support

The resources are distributed among 25 teachers across the district

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma School District One announced Monday that the Arizona Public Service (APS) Supply My Class program has donated $ 12,500 specifically for teachers. 25 teachers received $ 500 each for the purchase of classroom materials.

“The APS Supply My Class program was open to teachers in Arizona at K-12 Title I schools,” said Christine McCoy, District One communications and community engagement coordinator. “Every Friday from August 6th to September 3rd, random drawings were held, awarding 500 teachers in the state of Arizona with $ 500 each.”

Music teacher Jose Ramos bought 13 ukuleles for his students at McGraw and Pecan Grove elementary schools.

Third grade teacher Kathleen McGinnis bought office supplies, including a printer, for her classroom at Palmcroft Elementary School.

7th grade teacher Claudia Bellisle also bought a printer along with various supplies for her EL / language arts classroom at Woodard Jr. High School.

“Yuma School District One appreciates the continued support APS provides schools, students and teachers,” said McCoy.
