Yuma Veteran celebrates 102nd birthday

Jimmy Robinson’s friends and family host birthday party

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) Yuma Military Veteran Jimmy Robinson turned 102 years young.

The birthday celebration took place at Yuma American Veterans on Sunday, November 27th.

Robinson says the cake was good, but being around friends and family was even better.

“I’ve known them for years. I lived out [in Wellton] for several years so it was a great feeling to have all my friends out there,” Robinson said.

Robinson, the youngest of 17 children and a World War II veteran, was 21 years old when he was enlisted into the US military.

Shortly after, he ventured overseas on the MS Queen Elizabeth.

Robinson was then accompanied by his longtime friend and President of Yuma American Veterans Mike Cotter, who portrays Robinson as an idol.

“He’s incredible. He comes just about every morning for breakfast. He’s positive, active, and he’s up. He’s an incredible man,” Cotter praised.

Once Robinson’s birthday party ended, Robinson is already thinking about next year.
