Art in the Park, an outdoor arts festival featuring live music, art exhibits and children’s attractions, will be held this Saturday and Sunday, January 15 and 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gateway Park, 1st Street and Gila Street downtown instead of Yuma.

Participants are invited to view and purchase a variety of art exhibitions and meet with local and regional artists. Admission to the park for this event is $1 per person and is free for children 6 and under. Dogs kept on a leash are welcome.

In addition, live music and theater performances entertain guests. Lawn games are set up for leisurely play.

Food vendors offer lunch or snacks for sale, as well as drinks containing mimosa.

Art in the Park is based on Georges Seurat’s famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, which depicts Parisians spending a lazy afternoon by the water.

Enter Gateway Park through its main parking lot northeast of the intersection of 1st and Gila Streets or through the parking lots east of Pivot Point at the north end of Madison Avenue.

The event takes place rain or shine. For more information, please contact the Yuma Art Center at (928) 373-5202.
