Phoenix Police are investigating the alleged attack on an Asian-American man and his children at the Suns game

An Asian-American man says someone yelled at his family with racist profanity and pelted him with a beer bottle at the Phoenix Suns game on Tuesday.

PHOENIX – Phoenix Police are investigating a suspected hate crime against an Asian-American man and his two children after the man claimed someone yelled “(explosive) Asians” before grabbing a beer bottle after the Sun Game on March 30th has thrown him.

“He hasn’t slept in two days,” said Vicente Reid, CEO of the Arizona Asian Chamber of Commerce.

Reid is friends with the man and says he received a call from him after the incident. “He’s telling me, hey man, I just saw a hate crime.”

Reid went to Twitter and asked the Phoenix Police and the Suns to investigate the incident.

The Phoenix Suns replied and said so work closely with your friend and Phoenix police to investigate thoroughly … Discrimination and hate crime of any kind are not tolerated by the sunsr Phx Arena.”

Sun’s head coach Monty Williams was asked about the incident during a press conference.

When these incidents occur, it makes you sad. Not because I’m a black man, but because I’m a man. I am human and humans should treat each other like humans, ”said Williams.

In a statement to 12 News, Phoenix police said they had checked and found someone thrown a beer bottle but did not identify a suspect.

“The officers checked the video and determined that the incident occurred. However, the suspects were not seen on the video. The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect and was not injured. The victim reported hearing someone say” Asian ” and felt the beer can beat him. “

The department shares 12 messages that it investigated two incidents of bias crime in the Asian community in 2019 and three incidents in the past year.

Americans have seen a sharp increase in attacks against Asian American citizens since the pandemic began. Reid says something that can be stopped when people embrace each other as equals.

We have to move forward and we can only do that if we work together, learn from each other, be part of each other’s life, ”said Reid.
