Fatal Buckeye shooting suspect is victim’s stepson
Jesus Lastra Perez, 22, was arrested after fatally shooting 36-year-old David Washington just before 1 a.m. Thursday at a home in the Sienna Hills neighborhood of Buckeye, officials said. Officers were dispatched to the residence following reports of shots fired, officials said. A 17-year-old girl, identified as Washington’s daughter, was also found inside the home with gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Upon arrival, responding officers found 36-year-old David Washington dead at the scene.
Buckeye police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jesus Lastra Perez, who was detained near the scene shortly after the shooting by a Buckeye police sergeant who had just ended her shift and was nearby, according to authorities.
