Flagstaff Baseball does fast work from Holbrook in Home Opener | Local

Tristen Figueroa had one of the Eagles’ best days playing 4 out of 5 and it was just a home run that shied the cycle. He started his day with a triple to kick off the big offensive day.

As a team, the Eagles had 17 hits and Flagstaff Batters were only beaten twice. It was a tough day for the roadrunners pitchers who had missed a number of pitches and for the roadrunners catcher who allowed a few inexperienced runs of wild games.

In fact, that was the highest number of results for Flagstaff in the first and second innings. Flagstaff rattled off wild fields twice in a row in the first run and took an early 3-0 lead.

After a three-hit inning from Van Dyke in the second half, Flagstaff quickly got things going in the lower part of the frame. Van Dyke started the inning with a deep drive to the midfield wall for a double. Daniel Woods had a patient in the bat and let two wild fields pass, resulting in an inexperienced run by Van Dyke to extend the lead to 4-0.

One stroke later and again Flagstaff let a runner come in from a wild field that could bring in Holbrook’s catcher. get a runner from third to 6-0.

The Eagles brought seven more runs in the semifinals and increased the lead from two to 13-0 in the end. Flagstaff went through his batting order in the high scoring inning.
