Yuma Police Department goes “one on one with 911”

Dispatch center opens recruiting event to the public

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Police Department Dispatch Center is hosting Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on 1st Ave. 1500 a recruiting event.

Known as One on One with 911, the opportunity provides an opportunity for members of the community to meet and speak with 911 911 operators. Interested parties are instructed in one call after another how they can save lives.

Light refreshments are also served.

A $ 1,000 recruitment bonus is paid to applicants who successfully complete their training and probationary period. The bonus is paid out as follows:

  • $ 500 upon successful completion of training
  • 500 USD upon successful completion of the trial period

The function of a 911 dispatcher is to answer emergency and non-emergency calls for the service; Record details of callers and enter them into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) database; Providing assistance and information to law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency services, animal control agencies, and the public at large.
