Yuma urgently needs lifeguards
The parks and recreation department says it needs 60
YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – According to the Aquatic Council, the ratio of lifeguards per swimmer is one to seventy-five. Yuma City reports that 60 lifeguards missed their intended destination.
If these positions are not occupied, the city will have to keep some public swimming pools closed. But there is still time and if you are over 15 you can fill these boots, or in this case sandals.
Lifeguard certification courses begin this Friday April 9th, 2021. The courses have been reduced from a one-week course to a three-day course.
Now there is a cost to the course which is $ 150. Those interested can call the Yuma City Parks and Recreation Department for more information.
