The Roosevelt Row area is a well-known pedestrian and arts district in downtown Phoenix that has recently been the focus of safety concerns. According to coverage from FOX10 Phoenix and 12 News, recent violent incidents in the district have prompted changes to the Downtown Phoenix First Friday events, including the removal of street closures and vendor experiences along Roosevelt Row for the foreseeable future. Despite these adjustments, small businesses and galleries in the area remain open during First Friday, sources said.
Community members and business owners have participated in listening sessions to discuss safety improvements following a series of violent incidents reported in the area. The shooting Friday night adds to ongoing public safety concerns in the district, according to local news reports.
This incident is separate from another reported shooting near Roosevelt Row that occurred around 12:30 a.m. on April 27, according to available records. The Phoenix Police Department has not released a case number or further details about the investigation timeline, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
