Arizona County Health Director charged with misuse of public funds

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – Navajo County’s health director Jeffery Lee is on administrative leave after facing 16 charges of theft, misuse of public funds and fraud, according to The Associated Press.

Lee, who is on paid leave, was charged Tuesday, December 29, 2020 after a state audit charged him with purchasing cards from Navajo County and Coconino County, where he was once a senior civil servant, for personal use and falsified records to have used.

Lee worked in Coconino County as an Emergency Preparedness Manager from August 2012 to April 2017, then took over the Navajo County’s Department of Health, AP reports. The audit claims he continued to spend county funds for personal use even after he left Coconino County.
