The Snowflake Junior Leadership Academy invites attendees to Snowflake / Taylor
Young people aged 10 to 14 are invited to attend the Junior Leadership Academy of the Snowflake Intermediate School on weekdays from June 14th to 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration is free and morning snacks, lunches and take-away dinners are provided to participants.
The academy is limited to 25 participants. The Academy offers personalized tuition with a 4-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio, active student participation and development of goal setting, social and life skills, community service, drug prevention awareness, oral and written communication, academic skills development and Decision challenge exercises.
The cooperation between agencies and the support of the community are an essential part of the program’s success. The program, designed and implemented by local professional educators, is supported by funding or in-kind contributions from several Navajo County authorities.
Attendees will visit Navajo County Court House in Holbrook, visit the drug court, have an audience with Superior Court judges, tour the prison, visit and interview senior citizens at Mountain Care at the Snowflake Assisted Living Center, and take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities Outside area attend Snowflake Intermediate School.
Parents or guardians are invited to participate in drug prevention awareness programs with their child and lunch is offered. Various community agencies will attend the morning session. The speakers will provide information and strategies on awareness raising and drug prevention to avoid the pitfalls of peer pressure.
