Two local adults and a 6 year old girl fatally on 77 | . killed Navajo County
NAVAJO COUNTY – A fatal collision on State Route 77 at mile post 367.8 between Snowflake and Holbrook on Wednesday, May 26, around 3:32 p.m., killed two local adults and a 6-year-old girl.
The fatality blocked the lanes of the highway heading north to divert traffic onto Highway 377 when the Arizona Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation.
The cause of the fatal collision is currently unknown.
Salvador Torres III (21) from Pinetop, the driver of a Honda Accord, and Davelynn Haley (24) from Taylor and the 6-year-old girl in a Chevrolet sedan with Haley died in the collision.
Three other children under the age of 6 who were in the Chevrolet sedan were taken to Summit Healthcare for treatment of unknown injuries.
“The Honda sedan and the Chevrolet sedan collided head-on in the lane of the SR 77 heading north at mile post 367.8. The Honda sedan came to a halt in the western right-of-way lane heading south. The Chevrolet sedan came to a halt east of the drive in the north lane. Two inmates of the Chevrolet died on the scene. The driver of the Honda limousine died at the scene, ”said Bart Graves from DPS in an email.
Graves said no one was wearing seat belts in either vehicle.
Impairment was not considered a factor.
