NCSO MPs are investigating a single UTV rollover resulting in police death

At around 8:38 a.m. on Sunday, April 18, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) received a report of a single UTV rollover collision on 124 Forest Service Road near Overgaard.

It was reported that the single inmate was trapped under the UTV and not responding. The male subject pronounced dead at the scene was later identified as Paul Paliscak Jr. 61 of Scottsdale and Overgaard.

No other person or vehicle was involved in this incident. Contributing to this incident appear to be speed, possible wildlife on the road, and improper use of NCSO safety equipment.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds anyone wishing to participate in OHV / ATV recreational activities to always obey laws and safety guidelines when operating these vehicles. Helmets and seat belts and seat belts can prevent serious injury or death in the event of a collision or rollover. Most forest roads are designated as actual roads and all traffic laws apply to ensure everyone’s safety.
