St. Vincent de Paul Easter Feast: Phoenix Volunteers Feed 4,500 in Massive Community Outreach
St. Vincent de Paul volunteers served 4,500 Easter meals on April 5, 2026, at dining rooms in Phoenix and Mesa. The event aimed to restore dignity and provide a sense of belonging to individuals experiencing homelessness, officials said.
St. Vincent de Paul volunteers prepared and served a special Easter meal featuring pineapple glazed ham, red potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and dinner rolls, all made in the organization’s central kitchen, officials said. The meals were distributed inside the charity’s dining rooms in Phoenix and Mesa on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, with the Phoenix dining room open from 11 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. and the Mesa location serving from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., according to event schedules provided by St. Vincent de Paul.
The organization initially planned to serve 4,000 Easter meals, but records indicate that 4,500 meals were ultimately provided, exceeding the target.
The Phoenix Dining Room, located at 1075 W. Jackson Street, also hosted the annual Champions for the Homeless event, a tradition that included live music and appearances by high-profile volunteers, including former NFL players such as Nick Lowery, who helped raise awareness during the lunchtime meal service, records show. The Mesa Dining Room at 49 W. Broadway Road served meals concurrently, ensuring broad access across the Valley.
Adam Young, director of food services at St. Vincent de Paul, said the Easter event was designed to do more than provide food. “At St. Vincent de Paul, Easter is about more than serving a meal — it’s about restoring dignity and reminding every guest that they are seen, valued, and loved,” Young said. He added that the team works year-round to nourish the community and that Easter is a time to create a space where “a warm meal becomes a place where everyone belongs,” according to official statements.
The meals were open to all guests in need, including those experiencing homelessness, officials said. This outreach aligns with St. Vincent de Paul’s broader mission to support vulnerable populations in the region.
St. Vincent de Paul operates four dining rooms and partners with 36 community agencies across the Valley, contributing to the distribution of 2.5 million meals in 2025, according to the organization’s annual records. The Easter meal service is part of this ongoing effort to assist individuals facing food insecurity and homelessness.
Additional sites, such as the Family Evening Meal location at 420 W. Watkins Road in Phoenix, are also part of St. Vincent de Paul’s network but were not directly involved in the Easter Sunday meal service, sources confirmed. The timing of the Easter event aligns with the liturgical calendar, with Easter Sunday falling on April 5, 2026.
The Champions for the Homeless event at the Phoenix Dining Room has been a traditional annual gathering, featuring community leaders and volunteers who help draw attention to homelessness issues while supporting the meal service. The event was also streamed live on YouTube, confirming the date and offering wider access to the community.
St. Vincent de Paul’s central kitchen prepared the Easter menu items to ensure consistency and quality across all dining rooms. The organization’s food services team emphasized the importance of providing nutritious and comforting meals during holiday events as part of their year-round operations.
The Easter outreach is one component of St. Vincent de Paul’s comprehensive food assistance programs, which include daily meal services and partnerships with local agencies to address hunger and homelessness throughout the Valley. The organization continues to coordinate efforts to expand access and support for those in need.
